The Sola frame is manufactured from hydro formed, butted 6061 alloy tubing making for a very strong frame. For this kind of application - the XC hardtail, a lightweight yet strong aluminium frame is a viable cost effective option. Hydro forming is a process to shape alloy tubing from the inside with pressurised water and/or oil, into a negative mold cavity, resulting in stronger - shaped - thin wall tubing.
Sola's geometry has been fine tuned on many a race course, XC, marathon and stage race. What that means is that Sola is a classic racebike that rides the way you expect a racebike to ride. Great handling on technical terrain, efficient climbing, well balanced and comfortable for longer days in the saddle.
Hydro forming is a process of manipulating alloy tubes in a negative mold shape with pressurized water and or oil from the inside. This creates tubes with complex shapes, and very thin sidewalls, but with superior strength and stiffness over their un-hydro formed counterparts.
Sola is fully internal routed. This means cables run inside the frame tubing, keeping the cockpit clean and cables out of harm's way. This also means less maintenance, since cable housings are full length and thus less prone to dirt ingression.
The Sola frame uses our SBC dropout system with replaceable derailleur hanger and 12mm thru axle. This system creates for a very stiff and secure rear end on the bike.
Sola 1 is GX Eagle 12spd drivetrain equipped. This means no-more dropping of chains, and a whole lot less noise on the trails.
Sola frames are internal dropper post compatible.
The Sola alloy frame have become a favourite not just for its racing pedigree, but for the surprising comfort it offers. Commuters and bike tourers have been riding Solas for years, and so we are keeping the rack and fender mounts on the bike - so that you can easily set the bike up to do these.
