Silverback Fender Set with Integrated Rear Light - StVZO Approved

400 miles and still going strong.

What a great product. Prior to the race blades I'd lashed some lifeline guards to my road bike for the winter commute. Strictly speaking, nothing wrong with them, but the CAAD 8 has quite a race geometry which made for some (overly) tight tolerances: Mud / leaves caking beneath the fork / front brake area where the guard just about sneaked under. Basically just not a successful combo.
Hence a go with these, and how glad I've been through the winter months. Minimal set up fuss. Basically just strap them on and ensure you have around 15mm clearance inside the guard. If they aren't fitting right, you can easily have a play with them on the fly too.
The front guard actually gives more protection to my bottom bracket than the previous ones- as it comes right down with a flap. The rear gives enough coverage to ensure any mates in the chain gang don't get a proper covering too. OK so overall not as much coverage as a full guard, but for the bike I'm fitting them to, its a fair trade, and I'm more than happy.

I really like these fenders, 4 1/2 stars! They are relatively easy and quick to mount / remove. Yet at the same time they are among the most secure and quiet fenders I've ridden with in a long time. Even riding over rougher terrain or bumpy roads they are extremely quiet, no rattling, no wheel rub, no worries about loosening.

They provide adequate coverage over my WTB Nano 700 x 40 gravel tires. The only knock I will give them is that they are just a little short in terms of toe / tail coverage. Having said that, I haven't really noticed much toe spray, however, there is definitely some rooster-tail action going to the rear, but either way the bike stays pretty much dry. As such, I did recently add some front/rear flaps from Axx-savers (sorry, profanity filter flagged the correct spelling) to make them more of a true, full-coverage fenders.

Overall, I'm really happy with these, and think they're well worth the investment.
