The Lightest Bottle for Road, MTB & Gravel – Elite Fly Tex MTB 750ml

Every gram counts. Whether you’re grinding up a mountain pass, hammering through a gravel stage, or sprinting for the finish line, the Elite Fly Tex MTB is the bottle that keeps up without weighing you down. At just 57 grams, it is one of the lightest cycling water bottles available — and it doesn’t compromise on capacity, hygiene, or grip to get there.

The Fly Tex MTB features Elite’s signature textured body for a secure, confident grip even with wet or muddy gloves, a push-pull valve for one-handed drinking on the move, and a protective dust cap that keeps the mouthpiece clean between sips. 750ml of capacity means fewer stops, more riding.

Key Features

  • Ultra-lightweight – 57g: At just 57 grams, the Fly Tex MTB is one of the lightest 750ml cycling bottles on the market. Every gram saved on accessories is a gram you can put into your ride.
  • 750ml capacity: The larger 750ml size is ideal for longer rides, hot weather, and mountain stages where hydration is critical. Fewer stops, more riding.
  • Push-Pull valve: The ergonomic push-pull valve allows one-handed drinking without removing the cap — simply push the valve open with your lips and squeeze. Fast, intuitive, and reliable.
  • Protective dust cap: The included dust cap covers the mouthpiece when not in use, keeping it clean from trail dust, mud, and insects. Hygiene on every ride, no matter the conditions.
  • Textured Tex body: The new textured surface provides significantly improved grip compared to smooth-bodied bottles — essential for MTB and gravel riding where gloves are often wet, muddy, or both.
  • Standard 74mm diameter: Fits all standard bottle cages designed for 74mm diameter bottles, including most MTB, road, and gravel bike cages.
  • BPA-free plastic: Made from food-safe, BPA-free plastic. Safe for everyday use and easy to clean.
  • Made in Italy: Elite has been manufacturing cycling accessories in Italy since 1979. The Fly Tex MTB is designed and produced to the same exacting standards as Elite’s professional-level bottles.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What makes the Fly Tex MTB different from a standard cycling bottle?

The Fly Tex MTB is specifically designed for the demands of mountain biking and gravel riding. The key differences from a standard road bottle are: the textured body for improved grip with wet or muddy gloves, the protective dust cap to keep the mouthpiece clean on dirty trails, and the ultra-low weight of 57g — making it one of the lightest 750ml bottles available. It is equally at home on a road or gravel bike, but the Tex features make it particularly well-suited to off-road use.

How does the push-pull valve work?

The push-pull valve is a simple, reliable one-handed drinking system. To open: pull the valve upward with your lips or fingers. To drink: squeeze the bottle body to push liquid through the valve. To close: push the valve back down. No unscrewing, no fumbling — just fast, intuitive hydration on the move. The valve seals securely when closed to prevent leaks in your jersey pocket or bag.

Does the dust cap stay on while riding?

The dust cap is designed to be removed before drinking and replaced afterwards. It is not intended to stay on the bottle while the valve is in use. Most riders remove the cap at the start of a ride and store it in a jersey pocket, or leave it on the bottle and remove it when they need to drink. The cap fits securely enough to stay in place in a bottle cage over rough terrain.

Will this bottle fit my bottle cage?

The Elite Fly Tex MTB has a standard 74mm diameter, which is compatible with the vast majority of cycling bottle cages — including MTB, road, gravel, and e-bike cages from brands such as Elite, Tacx, Specialized, Trek, and others. If you have a cage designed for a specific bottle diameter (e.g. some aero cages are designed for narrower bottles), check the cage’s compatibility before purchasing.

Is this bottle dishwasher safe?

Elite recommends hand washing the Fly Tex MTB with warm soapy water and a bottle brush. While the plastic is durable, repeated dishwasher cycles can cause the material to become brittle over time and may affect the valve’s performance. Rinse the bottle thoroughly after each ride and allow it to air dry with the cap open to prevent odour build-up.

Is the bottle BPA-free?

Yes — the Elite Fly Tex MTB is made from BPA-free, food-safe plastic. It is safe for everyday use with water and sports drinks. Elite does not recommend using carbonated drinks in this bottle, as the pressure can cause leaks through the push-pull valve.

What is the difference between the 550ml and 750ml versions?

The 550ml version is lighter and more compact — ideal for shorter rides, riders with smaller frames (where a 750ml bottle may not fit the cage), or those who prefer a lighter setup. The 750ml version (this product) is better suited for longer rides, hot weather, and situations where you want to carry more fluid between stops. Both versions share the same Tex body, push-pull valve, and dust cap design.

Can I use this bottle with sports drinks or energy gels mixed with water?

Yes — the Fly Tex MTB is compatible with standard cycling sports drinks and electrolyte mixes. After using sports drinks, rinse the bottle and valve thoroughly with warm water immediately after your ride to prevent sugar residue from building up inside the valve mechanism. Do not use carbonated drinks, as the pressure can cause leaks.
