Pedal With Purpose: A Journey by the Euphrates

At Silverback, Pedal with Purpose isn’t just a campaign—it’s a way of life. It’s about more than cycling; it’s about embracing motion, adventure, and the pursuit of personal clarity. Few stories reflect this better than that of a rider from Haditha, Iraq, whose journey with his Silverback bike has become a testament to living well and being adventurous.

The Human Behind the Journey

At 46, living on the banks of the Euphrates River, he found himself overwhelmed by work stress. Seeking peace rather than escape, he turned to cycling. After discovering Silverback, he purchased a Scento from a showroom in Baghdad and set off on a ride to Lake Haditha.

That trip changed everything. On a tough climb, doubt crept in. “I told myself I couldn’t go further,” he recalls. “But then I pushed through and realized the real challenge was in my mind, not my body.”

When he reached the lake, he stepped into the water and laughed freely—a moment of triumph and clarity. Silence, once intimidating, became a gift. The stars, the wind, and the rhythm of the lake spoke to him. In those hours, solitude became a teacher, offering peace, resilience, and freedom.

Freedom on Two Wheels

The Scento was more than a bike; it became a true companion. “On steep climbs, the tires stayed firmly on the ground—that’s when I felt like we were a real team,” he says. Nicknamed “The Rock,” the bike carried him through gravel, climbs, and long-distance rides without fault. What began as a solo search for calm soon evolved into something even greater—he bought a second Silverback for his son, Mohammed. Together, they now explore the roads and trails, strengthening their bond with every ride.

Pedal With Purpose

His journey embodies the very spirit of Pedal with Purpose. It’s a reminder that progress isn’t always a straight path, but each pedal stroke brings us closer to clarity, strength, and connection. Cycling isn’t only about physical endurance—it addresses mental well-being, builds bonds, and creates lasting respect for the environment.

From the Euphrates to trails across Iraq, his Silverback has been more than transport—it’s been a vehicle of transformation. His story is proof that when we ride with intention, we live better, dream bolder, and discover freedom in motion.
