ENGINEERS OVERVIEW

At Silverback we aim to provide the best possible bicycle for the discipline. Feedback from our trusted customers gets taken into consideration when designing new models. After evaluating some feedback from our customers, we found that some of them asked for a higher stack height for the E-MTB hardtails which uses medium fork lengths. We extend the Head-Tube length to achieve this and came up with the idea to have a gap between the Top-Tube and Down-Tube. The gap between the Top-Tube and Down-Tube is supported by a tube where the electrical wire of the ON/OFF switch is routed through to the battery. We designed the Down-Tube and Top-Tube to have a similar look and feel by having quite sharp edges and facet faces to reflect the light when it hits the flat surfaces of the tube profiles. The sharp bends also add strength to the Hydro-Formed tube profiles. Certain design features were needed to offer the customer to option of customizing their setup. Maximum tyre clearance of 29 x 2.6” tyres was a must and the rear triangle had to have a mounting area for a kickstand, fenders and racks. The Diamond Comp uses the BOOST rear OLD standard of 148mm which makes the rear end stiffer then the standard 9mm QR frames. We experimented with a variety of 3D printed battery covers to offer the best solution and decided to go with a two-part battery cover design. The outer cover is made of Aluminum and the inner is made of silicone rubber. The Aluminum is more durable than a standard plastic battery cover and can be painted the same colour as the frame making it look seamless. The inner part is made from silicone rubber and dampens some vibration noise between the battery and the Down-Tube. The overall design look flows form the Head-Tube down through to the dropouts. Keeping the Top-Tube steep and in line with the Seat Stays also offers a low stand over height suited to shorter male and female riders.

DESIGN DISRUPTION

Electric assisted bikes can help people get into or back into riding. Get to the top quicker and have more energy for the descends.

LARGE CAPACITY BATTERY - The 720Wh battery offers reliability and massive range - less charging, more riding. We've made the battery easy to remove for easier charging - whether you have an outlet close by or not.

TWO-PART BATTERY COVER – The battery cover consists of two main parts. The outer cover is made of Aluminium which can be painted the same colour as the frame. It is also more durable than a 1-piece plastic cover which might not add as much protection against hard hits and rocks. The inner part is made from a silicone rubber which helps dampens any vibration noise and also protects against any water ingress.

HYDRO-FORMED 6061-T6 ALLOY FRAME - The frame tubes are hydro-formed into complex shapes to increase strength and stiffness, minimizing weight and excess material use.

POP GEOMETRY - Geometry is comfort orientated, and the slackened head angle also makes for confident handling. The seat tube angle is also towards the steeper side which makes for better climbing.

HYDRAULIC DISC BRAKES INCLUDED - Disc brakes offer dependable all-weather performance over rim brakes.

INTEGRATED KICKSTAND MOUNTS - kickstand mounts are integrated into the frame, making the installation neat and uncomplicated.

INTERNAL ROUTING - Cables are fed in, via openings in the headtube, to cable exits under the downtube. Cable routing is quick and easy, making installation a breeze. Internal routing keeps the bike neat and clutter free. It also means that cables are protected from impact damage. Full length cable housing also means less dirt contaminates the system and therefore less maintenance. LOW STANDOVER - More comfortable for male and female riders.

TAPERED HEADTUBE - A tapered headtube increases front-end stiffness and directly influences steering feel and precision.

DROPPER POST INCLUDED - Internal routing for dropper post cable.

1X DRIVETRAINS w/NARROW WIDE CHAINRINGS - Silverback fits 1x (single-chainring) drivetrains to as many bikes as we can. 1x offers less maintenance, is more intuitive to use and offers a wider gear range than 3x group sets. We spec our 34t 1x N/W chainrings in favour of climbing prowess over flat terrain top speed. Everyone can benefit from easier climbing.

DERAILLEUR CLUTCH INCLUDED - A clutch greatly improves chain retention, reducing potential chain drops & noise on one-by setups.
