KEY FEATURES
No, the carbon Stratos NX is not available in XL but have a look at our size guide to see if you will fit on a large.
Yes, but an aditional chainstay protector can be purchased on Speedlab.shop
3 Years
Yes. All frame sizes feature long straight sections which will allow for long droppers
Intermittent cleaning is the only maintenace IGUS bushings require. Ensure they are dry and clean of dust with a paper towel. Do not grease IGUS bushings since this will attract dust - IGUS bushings are self-lubricating and do not need to be greased.
Stratos uses headset bearings in the main pivot. These are Token C83-TBT bearings. Contact your local Silverback distributor for more info.
Stratos uses angular contact bearings for the main pivot. This means that as the bearings wear over time it is possible to nip out wear. Headset bearings are simple to disassemble, clean, and regrease, meaning with proper maintenance you shouldn't need to buy replacement bearings every year. All other pivot locations use IGUS bushings for low weight and longevity. Stratos NX uses a flex stay to further reduce weight and maintenance.
By reducing peak stresses at points in the frame, the entire bike can be constructed lighter. On a full suspension bike, this becomes even more important to have ‘balanced’ kinematic through the middle plane of the frame, that is not bias toward the drive or non-drive side. The drive side sees long periods of loading, of relative low to medium force. Where the non-drive side sees momentousness loading, of a far higher magnitude. So very different forces – localized to a specific side.
Shock rotates upwards diverting forces. To support that, the shock brace is added. This brace is most needed when the forces are greatest, so at full compression. At full compression, the shock is least in line with the top tube. This strut diverts forces from top tube to the downtube.
Front derailleurs are dead! 1 X Drivetrain means a single chaingring in the front and multiple gears on the cassette. Most popular setups is 1 X 10, 1 X 11 or 1 X 12 With that comes a wider main pivot bearing stance for increased stiffness.
Asymmetric tubes allow for the dispersion of shock forces between the top tube and downtube. At the riding sag point most of the shock forces are directed along the top tube. At suspension bottom-out, the rear shock rotates and shock forces are split between the top tube and downtube via the single sided support strut.
Burst flex suspension platform utilizes flexible carbon seat stays, eliminating the need for a rotational pivot (bearings or bushings) in the rear triangle. Carbon fibre's properties work alongside the shock and leverage ratio to create a cohesive suspension platform. Elimination of a pivot point results a lighter frame that requires less maintenance.
Optional storage box for spares or nutrition without reducing bottle count. Can be detached when you'd rather save the weight. Top-opening zip for easy access while riding.
Metric shocks perform better and have optional bearing hardware for low friction rotation, supported on the rocker side.
As modern XCO and XCM courses become more technical, we've adapted the bikes to suit not only the current trails, but also where XC is headed. Slacker head angles and longer wheelbases, along with other geometry and suspension tweaks allow for a bike that is more capable and forgiving on the downhills, but does not sacrifice any uphill ability in the process.
Don't leave setup up to chance, line up the rocker notch with the marking on the seatstay to guarantee perfect sag setup.
By triangulating the tubes it was possible to negate the need for a support strut on both sides. The role of the support strut is to split shock forces between the top tube and down tube.
Stratos features high quality Duroc alloy rims built on Shimano hubs.
The structure is mainly composited of T700 UD carbon fibre. Offering equilibrium in stiffness to strength ratio. Rear triangle is constructed with migh-modulus carbon fibre to ensure indefinite fatigue life of the flex stays. UD carbon fibre has absolute strength in the direction of the fibre. Strategically controlling the fibre lay-up, produces a matrix that is stiff where desired and strong where necessary, with minimum weight addition. The frame is finished in a 3K Twill weave for a robust composite surface that can withstand any demands exerted by the rider.
