    • THE PRIVATEER'S CHOICE RACE BIKE.

Bred for the most demanding mountain bike courses the world over, the Silverback CF was designed from the ground up to trounce any terrain. Asymmetric design dissipates load based on magnitude and position, levitating stresses where it's most concentrated. Paired with 12-Speed SX Eagle, 100mm RockShox, and Surface alloy wheels, it sets the scene for serious racing. The Silverback CF SX is the perfect privateer race bike. Oversized tapered pivot and Burst Flex suspension makes for a stiff, responsive, extremely light and agile race bike. Dropper post compatibility for versatility, nothing will be in the way of your success on-board a Silverback CF.

      BOXED ASYMMETRIC FORCE DISSIPATION

By reducing peak stresses at points in the frame, the entire bike can be constructed lighter. On a full suspension bike, this becomes even more important to have ‘balanced’ kinematic through the middle plane of the frame, that is not bias toward the drive or non-drive side. The drive side sees long periods of loading, of relative low to medium force. Where the non-drive side sees momentousness loading, of a far higher magnitude. So very different forces – localized to a specific side.

      BURST FLEX SUSPENSION KINEMATICS

The Suspension kinematics are designed so that the suspension feels the same for different sized riders. Small bikes are less progressive, Medium bikes more and Large bikes the most. Similar shock tune, & similar rear triangle used across sizes, but the suspension linkage is size specific. This is designed to rotate the shock more - give more mechanical advantage/leverage over the suspension to the lighter (smaller rider), and to the bigger bike, give less mechanical advantage - resulting in more progressive suspension.

      SUSPENSION ANTI-SQUAT

The high anti-squat start allows for direct power from pedal to wheel for racing efficiency, and then drops off in mid-stroke to allow the suspension to work better while pedalling under power. Combined with the linear leverage ratio, the Silverback CF is there to propel you forward and ensure that your energy input is rewarded with forward motion.

    • WHY IT’S BEST.

      1. Silverback CF SX sports the same lightweight carbon frame as the top-of-the-range SBC race machine.
      2. Parts on the SX has been chosen to offer a top-end no compromise Privateer race bike. Pick it up today, race tomorrow.
      3. Boxed Asymmetric frame design makes for an incredibly stiff frame that's light where it can be and strong where it needs to be.
      4. Silverback SX features premium Surface alloy MTB wheels.
      5. Silverback SX's race focused POP geometry makes for a bike that is well balanced, offering major traction on climbs and grip on descents. POP also engages bigger muscle groups to pedal, making climbing easier.
      6. CF1 is dropper compatible with internal routing. The added weight of the dropper will soon be forgotten after the first drop - go on, do it!

      ENGINEERING NOTES.

      1X DRIVETRAIN SPECIFIC DESIGN

Front derailleurs are dead! 1 X Drivetrain means a single chaingring in the front and multiple gears on the cassette. Most popular setups is 1 X 10, 1 X 11 or 1 X 12 With that comes a wider main pivot bearing stance for increased stiffness.

      BOXED ASYMMETRIC TUBE PROFILES

Asymmetric tubes allow for the dispersion of shock forces between the top tube and downtube. At the riding sag point most of the shock forces are directed along the top tube. At suspension bottom-out, the rear shock rotates and shock forces are split between the top tube and downtube via the single sided support strut.

      BURST FLEX SUSPENSION

Burst flex suspension platform utilizes flexible carbon seat stays, eliminating the need for a rotational pivot (bearings or bushings) in the rear triangle. Carbon fibre's properties work alongside the shock and leverage ratio to create a cohesive suspension platform. Elimination of a pivot point results a lighter frame that requires less maintenance.

      IN-TRIANGLE STORAGE BOX CRADLE

Optional storage box for spares or nutrition without reducing bottle count. Can be detached when you'd rather save the weight. Top-opening zip for easy access while riding.

      METRIC SHOCK

Metric shocks perform better and have optional bearing hardware for low friction rotation, supported on the rocker side.

      POP GEOMETRY ADAPTED FOR RACING

As modern XCO and XCM courses become more technical, we've adapted the bikes to suit not only the current trails, but also where XC is headed. Slacker head angles and longer wheelbases, along with other geometry and suspension tweaks allow for a bike that is more capable and forgiving on the downhills, but does not sacrifice any uphill ability in the process.

      SAG INDICATOR

Don't leave setup up to chance, line up the rocker notch with the marking on the seatstay to guarantee perfect sag setup.

SINGLE SIDED SUPPORT STRUT (REAR SHOCK TO DT)

By triangulating the tubes it was possible to negate the need for a support strut on both sides. The role of the support strut is to split shock forces between the top tube and down tube.

      STRONG & LIGHTWEIGHT WHEELS

Silverback CF features high quality Surface alloy rims built on Shimano hubs.

TYPE OF CARBON USED AND LAY UP BENEFITS

The structure is mainly composited of T700 UD carbon fibre. Offering equilibrium in stiffness to strength ratio. Rear triangle is constructed with migh-modulus carbon fibre to ensure indefinite fatigue life of the flex stays. UD carbon fibre has absolute strength in the direction of the fibre. Strategically controlling the fibre lay-up, produces a matrix that is stiff where desired and strong where necessary, with minimum weight addition. The frame is finished in a 3K Twill weave for a robust composite surface that can withstand any demands exerted by the rider.

    • FAQ

      • Is this bike available in XL?

No, the carbon Silverback CF SX is not available in XL but have a look at our size guide to see if you will fit on a large.

      • Does this bike come with a chainstay protector?

Yes, but an additional chainstay protector can be purchased on Speedlab shop

      • What is the warranty on this frame?

        3 Years

      • Is the frame dropper compatible?

Yes. All frame sizes feature long straight sections which will allow for long droppers

      • What maintenance do IGUS bushings require?

Intermittent cleaning is the only maintenance IGUS bushings require. Ensure they are dry and clean of dust with a paper towel. Do not grease IGUS bushings since this will attract dust - IGUS bushings are self-lubricating and do not need to be greased.

      • What bearings does this frame use?

Silverback CF uses headset bearings in the main pivot. These are Token C83-TBT bearings. Contact your local Silverback distributor for more info.

      • How does that suspension work?

Silverback CF uses angular contact bearings for the main pivot. This means that as the bearings wear over time it is possible to nip out wear. Headset bearings are simple to disassemble, clean, and regrease, meaning with proper maintenance you shouldn't need to buy replacement bearings every year. All other pivot locations use IGUS bushings for low weight and longevity. Silverback CF uses a flex stay to further reduce weight and maintenance.

      • Can I upgrade the length of my suspension on my bike?

The suspension length is normally determined by the frame design, it should not be changed.
